What Are The Essences of The Coach Character?

One of the worst things that you can do to another human being is tell them that they cannot become something.

It is very limiting to who they are and judgmental as well. Hence, you are giving others the right to weave bars of limiting beliefs and judgment around you too.

However, in coaching, there are certain character competencies that must be ingrained in you as a coach for the sake of your mental and psychological wellness.

Coaching is a career that requires a very meticulous essence of character to ensure success, sustainability and maintenance of your inner peace.

That is why in this blog, we will focus mainly on the Essence of The Coach Character that every coach should have during the coaching session with their clients.

The Essence of The Coach Character

Hyper-aware Perspective

A coach must be an individual with a vertical approach on life which means that he must adopt a hyper-aware perspective on his personal matters first. For instance, he does not unsee things, on the contrary, a coach is fully aware of his problems and has the awareness to confront them and deal with the situation accordingly.

In addition, this is a result of self-love. The Essence of a Coach’s character must be wrapped with Charisma that is derived from his emotional intelligence and his ability to sit back and enjoy listening to people in a new innovative way.

Most importantly, a coach must have a prestigiously high self-esteem in order to embrace being a lazy coach and allow the client to enjoy the glory of the moment while the coach is backstage and is not hungry for attention.

Passion

To thrive when launching a career in life coaching, a coach’s character must be dipped in passion with passion, yes I did write passion twice. Passion is vital as this is what will keep you going when things get tough and challenging. We are expected to be in a healthy mental state at all times to support our clients during the session and after the session too, hence, this can get vehemently hard at times which feels like running a marathon.

At times when too many clients approach you to help them become the best version of themselves it can become overwhelming to the extent where you decide to quit.

Luckily, here comes passion where it re-connects you with your purpose all over again and gives you the motivation you need to move forward.

Motivation

Motivation is one of the most critical factors in a life coach’s character, specifically, intrinsic motivation.

A coach should be a great representation of someone who is constantly aware of what motivates them to become the best version of themselves and what can hinder them.

Therefore, we must constantly thrive to see our own approval and acceptance and in return we will experience the motivation that comes from within too.

As a result, intrinsic motivation will help a client become a more internal locus of control which exhibits great responsibility and accountability toward one’s action which will in return set a great example for the client.

Communication

One of the true essences of our character as life coaches, is our deep ability to establish instant and deep rapport with other people and not just our clients. This requires great communication skills and a deep level of emotional intelligence and empathy.

It requires the ability of being able to step out of your comfort zone and embody the other person’s state but without feeling it.

We constantly make the other person feel that they are heard and accepted no matter what. Hence, the natural bridge of transformation to absence of judgement.

We must always believe that the other person has the best version of themselves within, not only that, but to also believe that they have the answer within. They do. They always do.
